OVEN: 375 Degrees Fahrenheit  SERVES: 24 Cookies

This recipe is a great activity. Especially now that we're stuck at home. :) Super simple and fun to make, these cookie bars make a delicious treat!  They're good by themselves or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
YUM!
INGREDIENTS:

    Ingredients
  • 2 1/2 cups unsifted flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup butter (margarine) softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 12 oz. chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS:
  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit
  • In small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • In large bowl combine butter, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla. Beat in eggs
To help soften the butter, cut both sticks in half, and poke the stick of butter with your finger or stab it with a fork to see how it reacts to being heated. microwave it on power level 3 and WATCH IT.
  • Add little bits of the flour mixture at a time to make sure it all doesn't fly out at you :)

  • Stir in chocolate chips and nuts until desired amount
I've never used the chocolate chip measurement, I just eyeball it. lol.

  • Drop into greased 9" x 13" pan and spread out. If crumbly, use wax paper to press down and smooth.
  • Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 20-25 minutes. (24 works perfect for me)

  • Cut into fourths horizontally and into sixths vertically (optional)

  • Eat before anyone else does!
