Starting and Ending the Day with God : My Devotional Morning and Night Routine.
And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed. ~ Mark 1:35
So, now that we've gotten through both morning and night routine posts, (if you know, you know.) I wanted to dive into how I spend them with the Lord. Because otherwise, it's kind of pointless. Now, I used to be kind of obsessed with my mornings and nights, but then realized, "what's the point when I don't have Jesus in them?" So then, I dug deeper into my devotional routine with God. And now I'm here to share it with you. Let's start with the morning.
If I get up in the morning, and it's completely dark, I immediately feel sluggish and discouraged. So I either go to bed with the shades slightly open or open them first thing in the morning. So, after I open the shades, I grab my devotional book, My Bible, my music player, and sometimes my notebook. First I read the devotional of the day. If you don't have a devotional, you can either download a devotional app, or follow a Bible reading plan. Anyways, after I finish my devotional, I read my Bible. Here, I'm going to give you a quick sample of different ways to read your Bible.
1. Read the entire thing through. (HIGHLY recommend. It was so much fun. Just don't rush it.)
2. Read through Proverbs in a month. One chapter a day. (Also super fun.)
3. Open your Bible and trust God he will lead you to what you need to hear. If it's something you don't understand, talk to God about it. Dig deeper into the passage. Have fun. (I like to call this dancing across the Bible)
4. Follow any Bible reading plan that looks appealing to you.
Alright, That's all I'm giving to you. I'll probably end up doing an entire post on that though. Anyway, I do one of these and then I turn up my favorite worship songs and either just sit there and listen to the lyrics, or end up having a full - blown concert lol. After I finish worshiping, I pray. Sometimes I pull out my notebook and jot down the prayer, but usually I just pray from my heart.
At Night
At night I do about the same thing. Read my Bible, pray, and worship. And that's it! Usually I just enjoy myself and do whatever comes to mind. I also would recommend writing down a quick grateful for list every night. Another thing I do is listen to worship music and jam out whilst I'm getting ready for bed. This way, it sets my mind to be in that mindset while I'm going through life.
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. ~ 10:17
